GEO: Coordinate conversion

I have come into many problems myself with simple coordinate conversion programs. This is legit.

  • GEO is a scriptable coordinate conversion tool
  • GEO converts lon/lat, ECEF und TM (Gauss-Krüger) coordinate systems
  • GEO is fully configurable
  • GEO is FREE (GNU licence)

gen2sh

"gen2shp is a simple C-Progam which can read the format required by the ArcInfo generate command. The data in this file will be converted to the shapefile format which actually means to three files: .shp, .shx and .dbf."

CRAN Taskview GIS Spatial Analysis Tool

A good website to read up on it is MapCruzer! and CRAN's site. This tool can use geostatistics and spatial regression as well and read and write geodata. It also has special tools for disease analysis and ecological analysis.

MapBuilder

"MapBuilder is a powerful, standards compliant geographic mapping client which runs in a web browser."

Much like OpenLayers.

Chameleon

"Chameleon incorporates the ability to quickly set up new applications from a common pool of widgets that can be placed in an HTML template file. These widgets provide a fixed piece of functionality, but the representation of the widget is usually highly configurable."

And also an Open Source Geo project.
